CANDIDATES FOR ADBC BOARD - 2010

Please vote for Four (4) candidates

George Cross

My name is George Cross. I moved to Mansfield, Texas eight years ago after I retired from the construction industry in Buffalo, New York.
My daughter, son in law and two grandchildren live in Arlington. That is the reason for moving to Texas plus, it is too cold in Buffalo.
Over the years, I have been involved with several organizations and have been on the board of directors. I know what is expected of a person when they allow their name to be considered for a position on the board. I now have the time to be involved and know what is expected.
I believe the members of the existing board have set a standard for the club that will be hard to improve on but,new people bring new ideas.
I believe the club should be a place where people can meet with friends, play bridge at different levels and advance at the rate they choose without pressure to move into a different game.
I feel the beginner bridge classes and the people who have given their time and knowledge of the game has to be supported by the club in any way we can.
I am a big believer in the zero tolerance law and should be enforced. People come to the club for relaxation and to test their skills not to listen to people argue or be rude.

Bill Gibson

Bill has been a member of the ADBC for several years. He has volunteered to help with the club's tournament several times. He has been on the ADBC Board before. Bill recently retired from his job as the Executive Director of the Associated Locksmiths of America, Inc. In his spare time he is corresponding with Stephen Hawking to modify the theories related to the nature of light. Specifically that the "c" in E=mc2 should be a variable rather than a constant. Bill agrees to serve on the Board, if elected, only until the next armed robbery.

Georgie Jaeger

Bobby, my husband of umpteen years, introduced me to duplicate bridge during the Fort Worth Nationals many years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I have learned there are all levels of players and I enjoy playing against all of them.
I previously served on the board for two terms as secretary and I currently hold that position. Some of the other board members tell me that they are impressed with my ability to take notes in shorthand which seems to be a dying art. I feel I understand much of the workings of the club and would strive to continue to improve the club as the present board has done. I have also worked on the GIC and the Hospitality Committees.
Playing bridge has become my part-time job. You can usually find me at one of the tables when I can find a partner. I feel it is important to support our games as well as our club and would like to encourage more participation by all players. If reelected, I will do my best to support the best interests of the club.

Cary Jennings

Cary Jennings has completed his first term on the board of the Arlington Duplicate Bridge Club, having also served as Vice President. He is a partner in the Fort Worth law firm of Broude, Smith & Jennings, PC. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from SMU and has an advanced law degree in taxation from New York University Law School. Prior to entering private practice, he was a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division, in Washington DC and in Dallas. His practice is now devoted primarily to estate planning and probate, tax controversies, and corporate law. Cary has been involved with a number of civic and nonprofit organizations, including serving as Chairman of the Fort Worth Zoning Commission from 1995 to 2000. He and his wife Kay, both Dallas natives, have lived in Fort Worth since 1988.

Suzanne Justice

This is my third year playing duplicate bridge. Arlington Bridge Studio and all its members have certainly enriched my life. I feel that I should contribute some time and energy to the club's well being.

John McConnell

Age: Older than Dirt! Member of club since 1995. I play at club about 4 nights per week and have mentored 5 or 6 current members. Currently Gold Life Master. Previously on board years ago.
